Descripción

Lurasidone hydrochloride is a drug that belongs to the class of atypical antipsychotics. It is used in the treatment of schizophrenia. Lurasidone hydrochloride has been shown to have a high affinity for 5-HT7 receptors and may also inhibit P-glycoprotein (P-gp) activity, which could be beneficial in treating treatment-resistant schizophrenia. The drug has been shown to bind to both dopamine D2 and serotonin 5-HT2A receptors and has structural features similar to ziprasidone. Lurasidone hydrochloride also inhibits monoamine oxidase A (MAO-A), as well as other enzymes such as CYP3A4, CYP1A2, and CYP2D6.
