Descripción:Levothyroxine is a thyroid hormone that is used to treat hypothyroidism. It is taken in tablet form, usually once per day. Levothyroxine therapy can be started with a low dose and increased gradually over time. This drug has been shown to be effective in the treatment of bowel disease, which may be due to its ability to decrease inflammation and increase the movement of stool through the intestines. Levothyroxine has also been shown to have beneficial effects on other autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and congestive heart failure. The use of levothyroxine requires periodic blood sampling for monitoring.
