Descripción:The compound (4R, 8RS)-limonene-8,9-epoxide is an epoxide of the monoterpene limonene. It has been shown to be an effective insecticide that attacks the cycle at the abietane stage. It can also be used as a precursor for other chemicals such as neoabietic acid. The biosynthesis of this compound is unknown, but it is thought to be generated by a cytochrome P450 monooxygenase and may involve the epoxidation of dendroctonus or cytochromes. This compound is not found in plants and is only found in insects, where it functions as an insecticide.
