Leucocyanidin polymer is a polyphenol that is found in the cell walls of plants. It has been shown to have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, which may be due to its ability to scavenge free radicals. Leucocyanidin polymer can also inhibit the activity of tyrosinase, an enzyme needed for melanin production. This compound has been shown to have strong antibacterial properties against Bacillus subtilis and Staphylococcus aureus, although it did not show any activity against Mycobacterium tuberculosis or Mycobacterium avium complex strains.
