A 286982 is a molecule that binds to the α subunit of the neutrophil CD8+ cell receptor, which is expressed on the surface of neutrophils. The α subunit-CD8+ cell receptor complex activates these cells to produce an inflammatory response. A 286982 prevents this activation by binding to the α subunit and preventing it from interacting with CD8+, thereby preventing a response. A 286982 has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties in animal models of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
