2-Methyl-3-nitrophenol is a chromatographic reuptake inhibitor that has been shown to increase the release of serotonin from rat brain synaptosomes. It is also a ligand for organic metal ions and can be used as an analytical tool for investigating their interaction with other molecules. 2-Methyl-3-nitrophenol can be used to study the functional theory of receptor binding, which is based on the formation constants of the molecule. This compound has also been shown to have thermal energy and vibrational properties and can be analyzed by analytical methods such as mass spectrometry or nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy.
