(1R,2R)-2-Methylamino)-1-phenylpropan-1-ol is a chiral synthetic compound that is produced by an asymmetric synthesis. It has been shown to have receptor activity in adipose tissue and to inhibit the release of amp-activated protein from cells. (1R,2R)-2-Methylamino)-1-phenylpropan-1-ol also inhibits the production of inflammatory cytokines and chemokines in human monocytes. The mechanism of this effect is not yet known, but it may be due to its ability to inhibit the activity of cyclooxygenase enzymes such as COX 1 and 2 and lipoxygenase enzymes such as 5-, 12-, and 15-lipoxygenase. This drug has also been shown to inhibit the activity of a number of other enzymes, including tyrosine kinases, as well as certain phosphodiesterases. (1R,2R
