1-(3-Methylphenyl)ethanamine is a chiral biomolecule that is used as a substrate for enzyme catalysis. 1-(3-Methylphenyl)ethanamine has been shown to be an effective substrate for dehydrogenase and enantioselective dehydrogenase. It is also used in the synthesis of chiral amines, which are important in the production of drugs and other important compounds. 1-(3-Methylphenyl)ethanamine can be synthesized from acetophenone, but it is also obtained from amino acids and amines by enzymatic deamination.
