- 3-Methyl-benzofuran-2-carboxylic acid hydrazide
3-Methyl-1-benzofuran-2-carbohydrazide is a molecule that has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria by binding to their DNA. It is an analog of pyrazole and has been shown to have antimycobacterial activity against Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Mycobacterium avium complex. 3-Methyl-1-benzofuran-2-carbohydrazide inhibits bacterial growth by preventing the replication and transcription of DNA, which results in inhibition of protein synthesis. It is also used as an antibacterial agent for the treatment of tuberculosis.
