Methyl (5-hydroxy-1-phenyl-1H-pyrazol-3-yl)acetate has also been shown to inhibit acid methyl ester, which is involved in the synthesis of proteins and DNA. This drug binds reversibly to the active site of pyruvate kinase, a key enzyme in glycolysis, and blocks its activity.
