The uptake of this compound has been shown to be cyclic in nature, which may be due to the presence of a protonated amine group. 4-(2-Methoxyphenyl)piperidin-4-ol has also been shown to have neuropathic pain relieving effects in rats, due to its binding with the amino acid tryptophan.
