Descripción:2-Methoxy-2-methylpropanoic acid (MMPA) is a solvent that belongs to the class of n-oxides. It is used as a reducing agent in organic synthesis and as a reagent for the synthesis of phenanthridone derivatives. MMPA has been shown to react with methanolic solution and propanal to form an electron adduct. The hydrogen atom of this adduct can be reduced by hydrated electrons, which are generated by the electrochemical reduction process. The resulting reaction produces an ether and hydroxyl group on the heteroaromatic ring.
