1-Methylpyrazole is a chemical compound that is used as a flavorant and also has antimicrobial properties. It has been found to inhibit the growth of Klebsiella aerogenes, a bacterium that causes cavities in teeth. 1-Methylpyrazole is an aromatic compound with nitrogen atoms and can be found naturally in plants. The chemical structure of 1-methylpyrazole consists of a methyl group attached to a pyrazole ring. It can be synthesized from hydrochloric acid and hydroxy group, which are both found in nature. The molecular weight of 1-methylpyrazole is 74.1 grams per mole, and it reacts with hydrochloric acid to produce hydroxy groups and methyl sulfones. The reaction products of 1-methylpyrazole are yellowish liquids at room temperature.
