Descripción:1-(4-Methylphenyl) thiourea is an antimicrobial agent that belongs to the group of phenylthioureas. It is a synthetic compound that is used in the treatment of bacterial infections and is effective against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. 1-(4-Methylphenyl) thiourea has been shown to have homologous and heterologous modes of action, which means it can inhibit different enzymes in different species of bacteria. The kinetic data for 1-(4-methylphenyl) thiourea was obtained by crystallography techniques, which showed that this molecule has a constant rate of dissociation from its hydrogen bond acceptor. This efficient method was also applied to phenacyl (the other major metabolite), which yielded similar results.
