1-Methyl-4-phenylpiperidin-4-amine is a heterocyclic compound that belongs to the class of isoquinolines and carbocycles. It has biological activity and is used as a pharmaceutical intermediate. 1-Methyl-4-phenylpiperidin-4-amine can be synthesized from the reaction of 4-(1,1,2,2,3,3,4,4,5,5)-octahydroisoquinoline with methyl iodide and potassium tert butoxide in an organic solvent such as acetonitrile. The compound has been shown to have biological properties due to its ability to form hydrogen bonds with proteins. This compound also has a spirocyclic structure that contains two phenyl rings and an amine group.
