MY 5445 is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that is selective for COX-2. It has been shown to be a specific treatment for chronic and acute inflammatory diseases, such as arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis and osteoarthritis. Clinical studies have shown that MY 5445 reduces the levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines in the blood and has an anti-nociceptive effect by inhibiting the release of prostaglandin E2. This drug also inhibits cell growth, which may be due to its ability to inhibit cyclase and cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterases.
