Descripción

(+)-Medicarpin is a naturally occurring isoflavonoid that possesses anti-inflammatory and anticancer activities. It has been shown to inhibit the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-10, IL-6, and TNF-α. (+)-Medicarpin also inhibits the production of xanthine oxidase and lipoxygenase, which are enzymes involved in the inflammatory process. In addition, (+)-medicarpin has been shown to have a high resistance against c. glabrata, which may be due to its structural analysis and enzyme activity properties. Medicarpin (a precursor of (+)-medicarpin) can be synthesized from p-hydroxybenzoic acid by chemical oxidation with hydrogen peroxide or sodium hypochlorite under acidic conditions.
