Methyl 2-methylthiophene-3-carboxylate is a pyridine derivative that can be synthesized by the reaction of tert-butyl alcohol with methyl bromide and sodium hydroxide. The product is a tert-butyl group that has been acetylated, formylated, and then chloride. Methyl 2-methylthiophene-3-carboxylate is a colorless liquid with a strong odor.
