5-Methylpyridine-2-sulfonamide is a catalytic reagent that is used in the synthesis of aziridines. It reacts with azide compounds to form an aziridine, which can be converted into a ring-opened aziridinium intermediate. The reaction mechanism involves coordination of the sulfonamide to the metal center and subsequent nucleophilic attack by the azide.
