5-Methylbenzo[d]thiazol-2-amine is a synthetic, nitrogen-containing compound. It has been used in the synthesis of various organic compounds and pharmaceuticals. 5-Methylbenzo[d]thiazol-2-amine is soluble in water and ethanol, but insoluble in ether. The compound can be reused several times with no loss of reactivity. 5-Methylbenzo[d]thiazol-2-amine reacts with anilines or azides to form substituted benzo[d]thiazoles, which are then converted to other compounds by the action of a variety of reagents such as chloroformates, triethyl orthoformate, and dodecyl alcohol.
