Descripción:
Methyl3-methylpyridine-2-carboxylate is a chemical compound that acts as a starting material for the synthesis of other compounds. It is a methyl ester of piperidine and can be synthesized by reacting chloromethane with 3-methylpyridine-2-carboxylic acid. This reaction system has been monitored by synthetic chemistry and is catalyzed by aluminum chloride. The reaction is an example of heterocyclic aromatic ring formation where methyl alcohol reacts with methyl ester to form an aromatic ring. Methyl3-methylpyridine-2-carboxylate can also be used as a starting material for the synthesis of other compounds, such as methyl4-(4,5,6,7-tetrahydrobenzo[b]thiophen-2(3H)-yl)benzoate.
