2-Methylbiphenyl is a biphenyl compound that has been shown to have anti-cancer properties. The anti-cancer effect of 2-methylbiphenyl is related to its ability to inhibit the methylamine oxidation reaction (MAO) in human liver cancer cells and the biphenyl hydroxylation reaction in rat lung cancer cells. This inhibition could be due to the inhibition of MAO by 2-methylbiphenyl, which prevents the formation of reactive oxygen species such as hydrogen chloride and other reactive intermediates. 2-Methylbiphenyl has also been shown to inhibit aryl chlorides and other pharmacophores, which are molecules that mimic the molecular structure of natural products or drugs. 2-Methylbiphenyl inhibits methane monooxygenase, an enzyme that catalyzes reactions involving methane as a substrate, with IC50 values of 0.5 μM for methane monooxygenase from Pseud
