5-Methoxypyrimidine is a chemical compound that inhibits the activity of methanol and ethyl formate by forming 5-methoxyuridine. It can be used as an intermediate in the production of pharmaceutical drugs. 5-Methoxypyrimidine has been shown to inhibit the kinase activity of many different enzymes, including tyrosine protein kinases, serine protein kinases, and threonine protein kinases. This chemical also has alkylating properties, which may be useful for industrial purposes such as pesticide manufacture.
