1-Methyl-1H-benzo[d][1,2,3]triazol-5-yl)methanol is a synthetic molecule that is used as a diagnostic agent to measure growth factor activity in humans. The compound binds to the streptavidin receptor on the cell membrane and inhibits protein synthesis. 1-Methyl-1H-benzo[d][1,2,3]triazol-5-yl)methanol has been shown to have anti tumor activity in mice. It was conjugated with fluorescein and used as an imaging agent for tumors in animals. This compound also has a function as a fluorescent probe for bovine brain phosphatase binding.
