- tert-Butyl 4-sulfanylpiperidine-1-carboxylate
4-Mercaptopiperidine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester is a potent and selective inhibitor of influenza virus. It has been shown to be the most potent inhibitor of influenza virus in a series of structurally modified piperidines, with an IC50 value of 0.4 microM. This compound can inhibit the activity of influenza viruses by binding to the viral M2 ion channel and blocking the efflux of sodium ions from the cells. 4-Mercaptopiperidine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester was also found to be active against other RNA viruses, such as poliovirus, dengue virus, and West Nile virus infections. The compound has been shown to inhibit these viruses by binding to their M2 ion channel and blocking sodium efflux. 4-Mercaptopiperidine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester has also been shown to have antiviral activity against HIV infection
