Descripción:
7-Methyl-7H-purin-6-ol is a synthetic drug that inhibits the glycosidic bond formation catalyzed by phosphoglycerate kinase. It binds to the enzyme form of phosphoglycerate kinase and prevents the production of ATP, which is required for cellular metabolism and growth. 7-Methyl-7H-purin-6-ol has been shown to be effective in treating herpes simplex virus infections. This compound also has anticancer activity, inhibiting the rate of DNA synthesis and cell division.
