Descripción:Methylcobalamin is a vitamin that is essential for human health. It is the cofactor of methionine synthase in the conversion of homocysteine to methionine, which is important for the synthesis of S-adenosylmethionine (SAMe), a universal methyl donor. Methylcobalamin has been shown to be effective in treating pernicious anaemia and other forms of vitamin B12 deficiency. The crystals of methylcobalamin are used in x-ray crystallography to study its molecular structure and understand its function as a coenzyme. Methylcobalamin has also been used to treat diseases in animals, such as diabetes mellitus and cataracts.
