Mitotenamine is a hydrophobic drug that has been used in the treatment of cancer. It is a slow-release drug that is reconstituted with water and injected into the tumor site. Mitotenamine has been shown to have antineoplastic activity, which may be due to its ability to inhibit tyrosine kinase enzymes in tumor cells. Mitotenamine also increases viscosity in the blood, which slows down the absorption process. This drug is insoluble and does not dissolve in water, so it must be administered by injection or implantation. The microsphere form of mitotenamine has been shown to be effective in reducing the size of tumors by delivering mitotenamine directly to tumor cells.
