It can be synthesized by the reaction of methylamine and nitrous acid with a base such as sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide. Methylamine thiocyanate has been shown to have synergistic effects with a number of other chemicals, including hydrocarbons, silicates, and perovskites. This compound has also been shown to have a morphology that is dependent on the type of solvent it is mixed in, which can alter its commercialization potential. Methylamine thiocyanate has also been shown to interact with organic solvents and hydrogen bonds.BR>BR>Methylamine thiocyanate undergoes hydrolysis when exposed to water or acids such as hydrochloric acid or sodium hydroxide solution.
