It is also used as a stabilizer in the manufacture of paints and coatings. 4-Methacrylamido-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine has been shown to reversibly stabilize colloidal suspensions of polystyrene particles at temperatures ranging from -40°C to 60°C.
