(1R,2R)-2-Methylcyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid is a chiral anion with the structure CH3C(=O)OCR. This compound has been shown to be reactive and scalable under various conditions. The reaction yield when using this anion as a nucleophile is dependent on the temperature and stoichiometry. Reactions that involve 1 equiv of (1R,2R)-2-methylcyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid yielded a higher reaction yield at higher temperatures and in the presence of more base. Diastereoselectivities were observed in reactions that involved 2 equivs of (1R,2R)-2-methylcyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid. The reaction yield was found to be dependent on the stereoselectivity of the reactants and is therefore determined by the reactant's configuration at Cα and Cβ.
