(2E)-3-[(4-Methylbenzene)sulfonyl]prop-2-enenitrile is a synthetic compound that has been shown to inhibit the growth of cells in culture and to bind to DNA. It has been used in the study of signal pathways, including those involved in cellular physiology, infectious diseases, and bowel disease. This compound also inhibits the production of cytokines and growth factors in cancer tissues. The analytical method for this substance is HPLC with UV detection at 254 nm.
