It is soluble in dichloromethane, ethyl acetate, and methanol. 3-Methyl-2-pyrazinyl)methanol is also extracted from glycerol with water and heated in the presence of sodium hydroxide to form an ester. The purified product has a boiling point of 103°C at atmospheric pressure. This compound can be used as a model system for the study of evolution because it has a low melting point and high vapor pressure. It also has chroma that ranges from 0 to 5, depending on its purity.
