Magnesium oxide light is a synthetic material that is used as a cross-linking agent, growth factor, and chloride transfer. It is synthesized by the reaction of magnesium salt with zirconium oxide in an inert atmosphere. Magnesium oxide light has been shown to be effective for wastewater treatment using chlorine gas and sodium carbonate. Magnesium oxide light has also been used as a polymer film activator for polymers with hydroxypropyl methyl groups. It has shown to have good light emission properties, which can be activated by heat or electron irradiation. The activation energies of magnesium oxide light are around 0.5 eV, while the activation energies of ZnO are around 1eV.
