3-Methylcyclohexanone is a molecule with an intramolecular hydrogen bond. This compound can be found as a colorless liquid with a boiling point of 40°C and melting point of -73°C. It is soluble in water, ethanol, ether, chloroform, and benzene but not in benzene sulfonic acid or nitrobenzene. 3-Methylcyclohexanone has been used as an intermediate for other chemical reactions such as the synthesis of dyes and pharmaceuticals.
