3-Methyl-1-hexanol is a primary alcohol that can be obtained by the catalytic hydrogenation of 1-octene. It is used as a solvent in medicines and as a chemical intermediate in the synthesis of other chemicals and pharmaceuticals. 3-Methyl-1-hexanol has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects, which are related to its ability to inhibit the production of prostaglandins. This compound is metabolized through different pathways, including reticulatae metabolism.
