• Descripción: Meclofenoxate hydrochloride is a cholinergic drug that has been used to treat bowel diseases. It inhibits the enzyme acetylcholinesterase, which breaks down acetylcholine in the body and thus increases the amount of acetylcholine available to stimulate muscle contractions. Meclofenoxate hydrochloride also affects the production of other enzymes, such as those involved in energy metabolism. The drug has been shown to increase water vapor loss through sweating and reduce body weight in experimental models. The drug may also have a beneficial effect on brain function by increasing oxygen consumption and blood flow to the brain.
