Descripción

Methyl 2-aminothioazole-4-carboxylate is an organic compound that is used in the synthesis of other compounds. It can be synthesized by the reduction of thiazole-4-carboxaldehyde with sodium nitrite in aqueous solution at low temperature. This reaction requires the presence of chloride ions, which act as a reducing agent. The chlorite ion, on the other hand, acts as a nitrite reductant and reacts with the nitrite ion to form chloride ions and nitrous acid. The reaction proceeds according to the following equation:

CH3SO2NHCOCl + NaNO2 → CH3SO2NHCONa + NaClO2 + HNO2
