4-Methyl-1H-pyrrole-3-carboxylic acid is a polymerizable monomer that belongs to the class of aromatic hydrocarbons. It is used in the manufacture of polymers, such as cyclic and layered polymers. The polymerization process begins with the addition of benzyl chloride, which reacts with 4-methyl-1H-pyrrole-3-carboxylic acid to form an intermediate compound. This intermediate compound then undergoes electropolymerization to form a polymerized film. The dispersive nature of this monomer makes it ideal for applications where solvents are not suitable or desired, such as in ink jet printing or electrochromic displays.
