• Descripción: (S)-10-Monohydroxy-10,11-dihydro carbamazepine is a prodrug that is metabolized to carbamazepine. It has been shown to be effective in treating epilepsy in humans, with an optimum concentration of 20-30 micrograms/mL. The matrix effect of (S)-10-monohydroxy-10,11-dihydro carbamazepine can be reduced by sampling blood at different times of the day or by taking into account the levels of hepatic impairment or drug interactions. The optimal dose for human serum levels is between 8 and 25 micrograms/mL. (S)-10-Monohydroxy-10,11-dihydro carbamazepine may also be used to treat other conditions such as trigeminal neuralgia and postherpetic neuralgia.
