Descripción:
2-Methyl-1H-indole-3-carboxylic acid is a crystalline compound that has been shown to have analgesic properties in animal studies. It is also capable of inducing sleep in rats. This drug has limited use as an analgesic, but it has been studied for the treatment of neuropathic pain and other conditions such as anxiety, depression, and schizophrenia. The latency period for this drug is 12 hours. 2-Methyl-1H-indole-3-carboxylic acid binds with high affinity to the phenyl ring of the indole moiety and to the methoxy group on a benzene ring, which may be important parameters for its pharmacological activity.
