Descripción:Methyl glycolate is a pharmacological agent that has a variety of physiological effects. It is used as an antioxidant and a co-substrate for the conversion of malonic acid to succinic acid in the Krebs cycle. Methyl glycolate has been shown to inhibit oxidation catalysts and can be used as an anti-inflammatory agent. It also has been shown to be effective in treating alopecia areata, which may be due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis. Methyl glycolate is also effective against infectious diseases such as malaria, tuberculosis, and meningitis, as well as autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus. This drug inhibits the immune system by binding with immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibodies in the blood stream, preventing phagocytosis by macrophages.
