2-Methylene-1,3-propanediol is a substance that has the ability to neutralize or inactivate substances. This product is often used as a crosslinker in polymer chemistry. It is commonly found in nepeta cataria (catnip) and various plants such as peppermint, spearmint, and basil. 2-Methylene-1,3-propanediol is also used for sample preparation before analysis by gas chromatography and mass spectrometry. The chemical's reaction products are hydrochloric acid and propanediol.
