1-(2-Methoxyethyl)piperazine is a piperazine derivative that modulates the serotonin receptors. It has been shown to inhibit 5HT2C receptors and stimulate 5HT1A receptors in the central nervous system, which may be responsible for its antidepressant effects. 1-(2-Methoxyethyl)piperazine may also have therapeutic benefits for Parkinson's disease by acting as an agonist at adrenergic receptors, leading to increased levels of dopamine. In addition, 1-(2-Methoxyethyl)piperazine has been shown to induce cell apoptosis in cancer cells through mitochondrial membrane depolarization.
