Descripción

Malonic acid mono-tert-butyl ester is a malonic acid ester that can be synthesized in a scalable fashion. It has been shown to activate bacterial growth, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the synthesis of L-alanine and L-aspartate. Malonic acid mono-tert-butyl ester can also be used as a precursor for the synthesis of amides and thermococcin, which are scaffold molecules for synthetic biology. This compound is produced by solid-phase synthesis from trifluoromethanesulfonic acid and magnesium salt in water. It has been shown that malonic acid mono-tert-butyl ester can be used as an inhibitor of ornithine decarboxylase and biotransformations, such as carboxyesterification or phosphorylation.
