• Descripción: 3-Methoxy-1,2-propanediol is a solvent that is used in chromatography as an experimental model sample preparation. It has been shown to be effective in animal experiments and also induces apoptosis in cultured cells. 3-Methoxy-1,2-propanediol has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells by binding to fatty acids and causing cell death. The hydroxyl group on the molecule interacts with the fatty acid esterified on the outer leaflet of the membrane bilayer, which leads to its insertion into the membrane and subsequent disruption of cellular homeostasis. 3-Methoxy-1,2-propanediol also induces apoptosis by binding to epithelial markers such as EGF receptor or EGFR (epidermal growth factor receptor).
