7-Methoxy-1-naphthaleneacetic acid is a putative metabolite of the drug clopidogrel. It has been detected in human plasma and urine, and its chromatographic properties have been studied. 7-Methoxy-1-naphthaleneacetic acid isomers have been identified by supercritical fluid chromatography. The presence of impurities and modifiers has not yet been investigated. 7-Methoxy-1-naphthaleneacetic acid can be synthesized from 2-ethylpyridine, ammonium formate, chloride, and hydroxyapatite in the presence of emulsions. Mass spectrometry detection is used to identify this metabolite in plasma or urine samples.
