• Descripción: 2-Methyl tetrahydrofuran-3-thiol is a food additive that is used as a preservative. It has been shown to be effective in a sensitive test for butyric acid, chloride, peroxide and pH optimization. 2-Methyl tetrahydrofuran-3-thiol was found to be the most effective of the three thiols tested. This additive also reacts with cinnamon oil and hydrogen peroxide to produce furfural and methanoic acid. The reaction time can be reduced by heating.
