10-Methoxyiminostilbene-5-carbonylchloride is an aliphatic, organic solvent that can be isolated from the leaves of the plant, Stizolobium amazonicum. It is a chloride with a carbonyl group, which reacts with trichloromethyl chloride and an organic base to form a carbonate. 10-Methoxyiminostilbene-5-carbonylchloride has been shown to have anti epileptic properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit protein kinase C in the brain. This compound binds to amine groups on enzymes and inhibits protein synthesis by blocking tRNA binding.
