4-Methylsulfonylbenzaldehyde is an organic compound that can be synthesized by a number of different methods. It is soluble in water and has a melting point of about 212 degrees Celsius. It has been shown to have anti-cancer properties, as well as inhibitory effects on Cox-2 enzyme, which is involved in inflammation. 4-Methylsulfonylbenzaldehyde has been used as a model for copper complexes, such as those found in wastewater treatment plants. This compound also shows promise for the removal of l-threonine from wastewater streams.
